The life expectancy of timber products depends on factors such as species, environmental conditions, and maintenance. Timber battens are primarily susceptible to factors like humidity, moisture, and direct sunlight, which can lead to expansion, contraction, or fading over time.

Proper coating, regular maintenance, and care are essential to extend the life of natural timber and preserve its beauty. By treating our material with the same care as traditional timber, our products will offer the same exceptional durability.

All Crafted Hardwoods’ products are made by upcycling sustainably sourced, low-value timber resources.

By repurposing wood that would otherwise be discarded by the construction sector, we help minimise industry waste, extend the material’s lifespan, reduce the reliance on old-growth forests, and promote a circular approach to timber. This strategy conserves high-value forests and biodiversity areas, and contributes to a more resource-efficient future.

When you choose Crafted Hardwoods, you're choosing a product that’s built to last and designed to be repurposed, ensuring it contributes to sustainability long after its initial use.

But if reuse or recycling isn’t an option, our materials can still end their journey sustainably.

Like other wood-based products, our timbers can be incinerated to capture energy and CO2, or disposed of in a landfill, where they will decompose like natural wood, breaking down over time, consumed by microbial degradation.
